“Our small group tours give you a unique and personal experience”

From Auckland you can easily discover our famous, 100% pure New Zealand. On our Auckland Day Tour we take in lush rainforest, untamed beaches, gannet colony, iconic volcanoes, vineyards and great views of the city on our West Coast Adventure tour.

Join us on a journey through Auckland and it’s outer reaches, all shaped by New Zealand’s volcanic beginnings.

West Coast Adventure Auckland Day Tour

Auckland, the ‘city of sails’ spreads across a network of extinct volcanoes. We begin at the top of one of them, Mount Eden, with a fun introduction to Auckland’s unique landscape. Awe-inspiring 360º views take in the sparkling Waitemata and Manukau harbours, the Waitakere Ranges to the west and our youngest volcano, Rangitoto, just off the eastern coast.

Rainforests of the Waitakere Ranges

We then travel west through cute Titirangi village to the Arataki Visitor Centre. Guarded by an 11m tall carved Maori Pou (guardian), with dramatic views of the Manukau Harbour, the visitor centre is a great introduction to the stories and secrets of the Waitakere Ranges – 16,000 hectares of diverse rainforest on Auckland’s doorstep.

Bush Walk and Waterfall

Our next short journey winds through lush rainforest to a sheltered glade where we enjoy a picnic lunch (at own expense), before following a freshwater stream on an easy bush walk (around 30 mins return) to a pretty waterfall. Along the way your guide will point out some of the native plants and their medicinal uses to Maori and early European settlers. Relax in the leafy shade before our return walk.

Optional for our more active guests is a one hour coastal bush walk along cliff tops with stunning views of this rugged coastline and the Tasman sea.

Auckland’s West Coast Beaches

Later, feel the sand between your toes on our untamed west coast beaches Karekare and Piha. While Karekare beach was made famous in the Oscar award winning movie The Piano, both these iconic black sand beaches are magnets to surfers, photographers and seekers of nature at its most wild and exciting.

Pukematekeo Twin Coast Lookout

The sea features prominently in the lives of Aucklanders, as you’ll see when you experience the panoramic views stretching from the Tasman Sea on Auckland’s West coast to the Pacific Ocean  on the East coast from the breathtaking Pukematekeo lookout.

Gannet Colony

We then drive down into open farmland passing West Auckland’s vineyards and orchards on our way to Muriwai Beach and its Gannet Colony (the Gannets nest here from August to April) amid the amazing rock formations of this rugged coastline. Muriwai Beach is popular with both surfers and kite surfers.

Wine Tasting or Ice Cream

On our way back to Auckland we stop at a vineyard for wine tasting or at a berry farm for a real fruit ice-cream (summer months) – the choice is yours. We then take you back to your city hotel after a great day exploring the the wild beauty of Auckland’s west.
